RENEW YOUR U.S. PASSPORT BY MAIL (FORM DS-82) – ADULTS ONLY
Did you know that adult U.S. citizens with 10-year passports can renew their passports via mail? We encourage adults to renew by mail, so that U.S. citizens requiring interviews, such as children, may be prioritized for appointments.
If you were previously issued a 10-year validity passport, you may apply for the replacement by submitting a completed form DS-82. Instructions are available at https://bs.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/renew-a-passport/.
The completed DS-82 form must be signed and submitted via courier, along with the following:
- Your original passport
- Recent passport photo (2×2 in.) that conforms to the passport photo criteria at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/photos.html.
- Bank draft payable to U.S. Embassy Nassau for $110. Personal checks are not accepted.
Send the requirements to the Embassy: Please use the courier company of your choice (DHS, FedEx or GWS) to submit your DS-82 and the above noted requirements to: Attention: ACS Unit, U.S. Embassy Nassau, 42 Queen Street, Nassau, The Bahamas (telephone +242-322-1181). After your passport application is processed, your new passport will be returned to you via courier. DHL and GWS fees for the service are $17 payable at their office. The FedEx fee is $22 payable to FedEx by a bank draft or a FedEx account number. The processing time is approximately 10 business days.
REPLACE YOUR EMERGENCY (LIMITED VALIDITY) PASSPORT WITH A FULL VALIDITY PASSPORT BY MAIL – (FORM DS-5504) BY MAIL
If an adult or minor was previously issued a limited-validity emergency passport, they may exchange it for a full-validity passport at no fee by submitting a completed form DS-5504 within one year of the issuance of the emergency passport. The completed DS-5504 form may be submitted via courier along with the original emergency passport, the letter issued by the U.S. Embassy at the time of the emergency passport issuance, and a passport photo that conforms to the passport photo criteria at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/photos.html.

MINOR CHILD: PASSPORT RENEWAL (FORM DS-11) – INTERVIEW REQUIRED
If your child was previously issued a 5-year validity passport and it has already expired or will expire by January 31, 2021, you may apply for a replacement using form DS-11. Children’s passports require in-person interviews. Please see the age-specific guidance below. Guidance and instructions are available at https://bs.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/. Remember to bring a recent passport photo (2×2 in.) that conforms to the criteria at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/photos.html.
Please complete the DS-11 form before your interview, however DO NOT SIGN IT. You will sign it during the interview, in front of the Consular Officer.

CHILD PASSPORT RENEWAL, up to age 15: Guidance and instructions are available at https://bs.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/minor-passports/. Both parents listed on the birth certificate must accompany the child for the interview. If a parent is absent, a form DS-3053 must be signed and notarized and submitted with a copy of both the front and back of the absent parent’s identification which was presented at the time of notarization of the DS-3053. Passport fee (child up to the age of 15): $115
CHILD PASSPORT RENEWAL, ages 16 – 17: If your child has reached the age of 16 or 17, they are now entitled to a 10-year passport. Passport fee (adult and child age 16 and over): $145
ADULT FIRST TIME PASSPORT – age 18 and older – INTERVIEW REQUIRED
Guidance and instructions are available at https://bs.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/. If you are renewing a 5-year passport and are over the age of 18, you are now entitled to a 10-year passport. Passport fee (adult and child age 16 and over): $145
EMERGENCY PASSPORT REQUESTS
If you have emergency travel to the United States, you may apply for a limited validity passport. Please call the Embassy at +1-242-322-1181 ext. 4406, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., or email ACSNassau@state.gov to schedule an appointment. Please include your phone number(s).
CONSULAR REPORT OF BIRTH ABROAD – INTERVIEW REQUIRED

NOTARIAL SERVICES

Cashier services at the Embassy may be limited due to social distancing mandated under COVID-19 health protocols. Exact change is required, and the cash payment must be exclusively in either U.S. dollars or Bahamian dollars (we are unable accept a combination of the two currencies).
