Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Nassau and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Preclearance Nassau recently provided training to the Royal Bahamas Police Force Anti-Gang and Firearms Unit (AGFU) at Lynden Pindling International Airport.

Two separate 16-hour training blocks provided a total of 12 participants with classroom instruction and practical experience for operation of a mobile non-intrusive inspection (NII) unit.

AGFU participants included constables, inspectors, seamen, and officers from RBPF, The Bahamas Customs and Excise Department, Bahamas Department of Immigration, and Royal Bahamas Defence Force.

The training objective was to provide familiarization with the technology and scientific knowledge on the identification and detection of contraband that is concealed within parcels being shipped into The Bahamas.

As part of the practical exercises, Bahamas Customs provided access to parcels awaiting clearance at the Bahamas Customs warehouse. The firearm is a practical exercise, not a seizure.
