On Thursday, April 13, Stephen Ziegenfuss, project director of the new U.S. Embassy Nassau brought students, professors, and professionals in the architecture and environmental sustainability fields up to speed on the progress of the new chancery.

The audience got an opportunity to examine hurricane resistant building materials and learn more about the environmentally friend aspects of the project including LED lighting, solar-thermal hot-water photovoltaic panels, sun control and shading devices on the façade, and indigenous landscape plantings.

Other sustainable features include low-water flush and flow fixtures and a wastewater treatment system that treats all wastewater on-site that will provide 100 percent of irrigation demand.
