U.S. and The Bahamas Celebrate Shared Law Enforcement Successes

On July 31, 2019, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Stephanie Bowers hosted the Sixth Annual U.S.-Bahamas Law Enforcement and Judicial Partners reception at Altitude Restaurant at the Fusion Superplex in Nassau, celebrating a year of shared accomplishments by one of the world’s most enduring bilateral law enforcement partnerships.

The over 100 distinguished guests included the Honorable Chief Justice Brian Moree, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs Carl Bethel, Minister of Financial Services, Trade & Industry and Immigration Ellsworth Johnson, Commissioner of the Royal Bahamas Police Force Anthony Ferguson, and Commodore of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Tellis Bethel.

Chargé Bowers commended her guests and the bilateral partnership, saying “thanks to your hard work each day, we arrested criminals, stopped illicit smuggling and trafficking, and fought corruption. By tackling such crime we are making our communities safer.”

The Chargé also highlighted recent joint successes, including coordinated operations between the Royal Bahamas Police and Defense Forces and the U.S. Mission, as well as collaboration on training at the Royal Bahamas Police College.

Chargé Bowers concluded by asking those gathered to join her in making a renewed commitment to the security, prosperity, and well-being of the citizens of the United States and The Bahamas.
