Good morning, and welcome to this momentous event. Although I will stand on the established protocol, I would like to acknowledge the Most Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis, as well as the CEO of GE Gas Power Americas Mr. Eric Gray, for having the vision and foresight to find a progressive solution to the island’s power challenges. Gentlemen, I am proud to celebrate with you here today.
The installation of this TM2500, at the cutting edge of aeroderivative gas turbine technology, will help ensure Nassau’s residents and visitors alike enjoy access to more reliable energy. The energy from this turbine will fuel schools, homes, and businesses. Now more than ever, this new source of power will ensure The Bahamas remains “Open for Business.”
Given the prominent role the private sector continues to play in Hurricane Dorian recovery and economic sustainability here in The Bahamas, I am encouraged by GE’s presence here today. GE’s relationship with The Bahamas began more than 50 years ago, and I sincerely hope it continues well into the future.
As Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, I strive to connect the Bahamian people with American companies to foster productive relationships that benefit both our countries. The introduction of GE’s innovative energy technology is yet another example of the progress we can make when we work together. On behalf of the entire Embassy community, I look forward to the positive impacts resulting from this partnership and stand ready to support new partnerships wherever I can.
Thank you.
