The U.S. Embassy in Nassau has the ability to issue emergency U.S. passports in certain limited circumstances. These passports have a restricted validity and are generally issued only to enable stranded U.S. citizens to return home.
Persons who need emergency passports must apply in person between 8am-11am on business days (excluding local and U.S. holidays) at U.S. Embassy Nassau. No appointment is required, although the applicant should present a police report (if their passport was lost/stolen) and an itinerary showing urgent travel within the next two weeks.
For the specific instructions and fees for your emergency passport: If you are in possession of an (expired) 10-year validity U.S. passport, select “Renew and Adult Passport by Appointment (Renewal of 10-year Validity Passport)” from the drop down menu. If not, choose between the following two options:
1) I’m 16 years of age and older, select “Apply for First Adult Passport (for Applicants 16 Years of Age and Older)” from the drop down menu;
2) I’m under age 16, select “Apply for a Child’s Passport (for Applicants Under Age 16)” from the drop down menu.
